Lord Mayor's Concert - 5 March 2011

The choir recently produced, and performed in, a charity concert for the Lord Mayor of Coventry councillor Brian Kelsey. The concert on 5th March 2011 was the Lord Mayor’s Spring Concert, in aid of Myton Hospice, a local hospice charity which is based in Warwick but also has hospices in Coventry and Rugby.

The concert was held in the Methodist Central Hall, which is an 800 seat venue in the centre of Coventry.  It was well supported, with many glowing tributes afterwards.  Over £4000 was raised for the charity concerned.

Also performing was the Coventry Silver Lining Ladies Chorus, Whose barbershop singing helped to provide the audience with a great variety of musical styles.  Our accompanist, Marina Kuznetsova, performed two wonderful piano solos, Toccata Fugue in D-minor, and also Liszt’s Rhapsody No.2. Even the non-classical music lovers were enthralled by her playing.

All in all it was an excellent event and one which we would hope to repeat sometime.
