Until a replacement accompanist is appointed, Sally will temporarily fill the position she once held!

It has also been agreed that Sally will deputise for Valerie in her duties as Musical Director as and when necessary.

The committee have agreed to purchase certain recording equipment.  This will enable each of the four parts of a piece together with the piano accompaniment to be recorded on CD, which will then be made available to all members.

This should facilitate in the learning of new music.  Equally it could also assist new members in getting up to speed with existing numbers.

Joint Concert with Mid Cornwall Male Voice choir Saturday 24th September 2011.

Plans are well advanced for this weekend. We have agreed to an informal lunchtime concert in the Cathedral starting at 12:30. We shall sing about 6 or 8 numbers which should take 40 minutes. This will be a great opportunity to sing in our own Cathedral, a fairly rare occurrence in the choir’s history.
We should like all members of the choir who are singing in the evening concert to sing at lunchtime, so please do your utmost to attend.
 
John Nicholds is working on a full days programme to show the other choir something of Coventry’s history and we hope that a number of choir members will volunteer to assist John by being part of the welcome team.

Please speak to John if you wish to assist him.

Wales Festival of Remembrance Cardiff   5th & 6th November 2011

20 members and 11 supporters will be going to Cardiff this year. Final details are awaited from the organisers and will be forwarded to these members as soon as they are known. We shall start brushing up on the music when we return after the summer break.

Summer Break.

The Foleshill Road community Centre is closed for the whole of August and we will not be able to practice there.

Our last practice date will be Wednesday 27th July and we will recommence practices on Wednesday 31st August.

New Equipment

The choir has purchased some new equipment.

1. Photo-copier.

We have an all singing–all dancing machine that will do everything that we need and when John Okell has learnt all its tricks we will be able to produce uncopywrited copies much more quickly.
2. Laptop computer and printer.

This has been purchased for use by the secretary to enable easier communication in terms of production of minutes of committee
meetings, incoming Emails, membership lists etc.
The unit remains the property of the choir and will be on our books as an asset.

Choir Jumpers

When we return from the summer break we shall start thinking of autumn and that would be an ideal time to purchase a choir jumper for the subsidised price of £20. The chairman will take orders from interested members.

Mike Sears

On Saturday 24th September 2011, the choir will be welcoming a visiting choir, Imrey’s Mid-Cornwall MVC. We plan for the choirs to meet up in Coventry city centre on Saturday morning, followed at 1.00pm, by an informal concert in Coventry Cathedral where each choir will perform a short programme.

In the evening we will be giving a joint concert at West Orchard United Reformed Church, Styvechale, Coventry. Where each choir will sing some of their favourite pieces, and hopefully we will sing some together. The concert starts at 7.30pm, and tickets will be available from the venue or on the door.
